The Thunderbird Club Started as a way past staff members and friends of Rotary Scout Reservation could contribute directly to the camp for projects and program that positively effects the campers experience while at camp.

Thanks to your help, the general operating budget of the camp, and the help of so many others including troops who have begun to take on entire projects, 2007 was another successful summer.  The Thunderbird Club had its best year yet and raised over $15,000.00 to help improve the camp facility and program.  This past summer the following was done:
     • a new pavilion was constructed in the Spruce campsite
     • the backup generator was hooked up to power the Kitchen / Dining Hall
     • the top deck of the rappelling tower was repaired
     • the roofs on Seik and Dearborn were replaced
     • new tent platforms were built
     • water was installed to the Cub Day Camp area and the Staff Site
     • Seik and Dearborn cabins were electrically updated and propane heaters were installed
     • the heaters in Jeff’s Lodge were replaced
     • the shop heater was replaced
     • road repair work was completed

The projects for the 2008 camping season include the following:
     • building a new pavilion in either Algonquin or Taconic campsite
     • building 6 new outrigger sets and 6 sets of decks for tents
     • building a new Staff Wash House at Seik and Dearborn
     • upgrading the Kitchen storeroom shelving
     • completing annual road repair work

In addition, we have undertaken a project in the BBQ / Picnic Grove to build two pavilions in memory of Joe “Grizz” Uline.  The funds for this particular project will come from donations that have been specifically designated for this purpose.  If Grizz made an impact on your life, as he did for so many associated with RSR, I would ask that you consider donating to this lasting memorial as well.  If you already have, then thank you again.
I hope you will again support our efforts to provide the Scouts of this area a quality program.  This year, for a donation of $25.00 you will receive this year’s camp patch.  For a donation of $75.00 or more, you will receive this year’s T-bird Club edition camp patch.  Also, this year, for donations of $200.00 or more, you will receive a limited edition T-bird Club hat as well as the patch.  We had 10 members reach the $500.00 plateau in 2007.  Their names will be engraved on the plaque located in the Dining Hall.  We will be continuing this program.  This is how it works.  Individuals with cumulative donations of $500.00 or more will have their names put on a special Thunderbird Club plaque.  This can be a one time donation or an amount that has accrued since 2005 (That’s as far back as I have records).   Thank you again for all you do.
